Malamute

The Malamute originated in Alaska, they are a descendant of dogs the Mahlemut tribe of Indians kept in upper Alaska, hence the name. They are thought of as sled dogs and are quite strong and love to pull things. This dog is sometimes confused for the Siberian Husky which is a smaller cousin of the breed. They are sometimes known to howl like a wolf. They make excellent companions and are quite friendly and loyal dogs.

Weight: Males 80-120 pounds, Females 70-95 pounds.

Height: Males 25 inches, Females 23 inches

Coat: A very thick double coat, lots of shedding is common in warmer months. Their coat is super thick almost like sheep's wool.

Life Expectancy: 12-14 years on average
